Responsibilities
The Ouray County Treasurer is responsible for:
- Collecting property taxes. Property values are determined by the Ouray County Assessor.
- Disbursing monies for obligations of the county on the orders of the Board of County Commissioners
- Disbursing taxes to the taxing authorities (school districts, cities / towns, the county, special districts, etc.).
- Investing the county's financial resources
- Mailing property tax statements to the owner of record
- Maintaining correct and proper accounting of all monies
- Receiving monies from county departments
Please be advised that the Ouray County Treasurer & Public Trustee and staff cannot give legal advice. Parties in need of legal advice are encouraged to conduct their own investigation into the release and/or foreclosure process and/or seek legal counsel in the private sector.
Effective April 12, 2021 County Facilities will reopen to the public. Please avoid entering facilities if you have a cough or fever. Non-medical face coverings worn over the nose and mouth are required in all County facilities. Patrons to all County facilities may be limited in number for the purpose of conducting County or Court business based on the business purpose and facility size. You may be asked to wait outside. County Staff appreciates the public's patience and understanding as they work through these new procedures. These times are undoubtedly challenging, but staff is excited to once again be able to see the public and serve our community members in person.
