5/12 - Sims Mesa area (Ouray / Montrose County Line) burning 55 acres.
5/12 (ongoing) - Norwood Ranger District begins areal ignition operations on the Glencoe Pine, as conditions allow. Burns are located within the Norwood Ranger District, but smoke may be visible in Ouray County.
If you wish to file an Open Burn Permit, please call Western Colorado Regional Dispatch Center (WestCO) non-emergency line at (970) 252-4020. A Wireless Emergency Notification System (WENS) notice will be sent out to all subscribers. Properly reporting planned and controlled burns helps mitigate the number of non-emergency calls to the Sheriff's Department and emergency dispatch lines.
