PUBLIC NOTICE: OURAY COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION OPENINGS

Ouray County is accepting applications from citizens interested in serving on the Ouray County Planning Commission. The Planning Commission acts as an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners with regard to land use and zoning issues within Ouray County. In addition to others, the major function of the Planning Commission is to oversee the Ouray County Master Plan. The members of the Commission work closely with the County Planner and Land Use Staff.
There are currently four open positions. Applicants must be full-time residents of the County (minimum one year residency in Ouray County is preferred). Terms are for three years. Outlined are the expiration terms for the positions:
Position 1: Term Expiration – March 31, 2026
Position 2: Term Expiration – March 31, 2027
Position 3: Term Expiration – October 1, 2027
Position 4: Term Expiration – April 30, 2028
The Planning Commission typically meets in a regular session on the third Wednesday of the month and in work sessions on the first Wednesday of the month. Additional sessions may be necessary due to the Master Plan revision process.
The Board of County Commissioners seeks to appoint Planning Commission members who have resided in the County for at least one year, represent diverse geographical areas, and are team players. The current composition of the Planning Commission will be considered, along with the need for a balanced background, including but not limited to agriculture, energy, land development, real estate, planning, general community experience, architecture, engineering, environmental science, or similar fields. Planning Commission members shall be appointed by area and economy to ensure the Commission is as representative of the County population as practicable.
Qualified applicants should submit a letter of interest noting reasons for wanting to serve on the Planning Commission, pertinent qualifications, and knowledge of Land Use topics in the County to Eli Holmes, Deputy Clerk of the Board to the Ouray County Board of County Commissioners, P.O.
